Cookies with pink, blue, and yellow frosting and sprinkles.

These sugar cookies are perfect any time of the year. Here are some ways to jazz them up:

    • Valentine’s Day – frost white or red and use heart-shaped sprinkles.
    • St. Patrick’s Day – frost green and top with Lucky Charm’s marshmallows.
    • Easter – use pastel colors like pink, blue, and yellow.
    • 4th of July – decorate with red, white, or blue frosting and use silver sprinkles.
    • Christmas – use red and green and sprinkle with holiday sprinkles.
    • Baby Showers – use pink or blue frosting and decorate with white sprinkles.

    Using Colored Frosting

If you choose to color frosting rather than buy it, there are a few things to keep in mind.

One – Many food coloring sets contain artificial colors. If someone has food sensitivities, choose natural food coloring.

Two – Food coloring can stain your hands and counters. Placing newspaper on top of your counter may help to protect it.

To make the colored frosting, read the directions on the package that you are going to use. Some food colors are liquid and some are dry powders. Start with the least amount bearing in mind that you can always add more, but you cannot take away.

    Original Lofthouse Cookies

Dave and DeAnn Stone of Farmington began baking their cake-like cookies in 1994 in a small leased kitchen in Ogden, Utah, and spent their nights baking cookies and selling them to local convenience stores during the day.

Ralcorp bought Lofthouse in 2002. In 2013, ConAgra purchased Ralcorp and continues to produce the beloved cookie.
