How To Make Witch Hat Cupcakes
There are three components to Witch Hat Cupcakes – the cupcake base, the green frosting which represents a witch’s hair, and the cookie hat. Start by preparing the cupcake base.
Cupcake Ingredients
- 1 box white cake mix
- 3 egg whites
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 drop purple food coloring
Cupcake Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350° Fahrenheit and fill a muffin tin with cupcake liners. Parchment paper liners are a great option because they peel away from cupcakes with ease.
Place cake mix, egg whites, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl and mix at medium speed for 2 minutes.
Add purple food coloring and mix until the batter is a solid color and there are no white streaks.

Fill the cupcake liners 2/3 of the way and bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cupcakes to cool in the muffin pan for 10 minutes. Remove them from pan and allow them to finish cooling on a wire wrack or on the counter.

Green Frosting Ingredients
- 2 cups unsalted butter at room temperature
- 8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
- 6 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 drop green food coloring

Green Frosting Instructions
Place butter and cream cheese in the bowl of an electric mixer that has been fitted with the whisk attachment. Beat them at high speed until they are light and creamy.
Reduce the speed and slowly add powdered sugar and vanilla until the powdered sugar has been incorporated into the cream mixture.

Slowly add heavy cream and mix until blended.
Add a drop of green food coloring and beat on high for 4-5 minutes.
Next, fit a piping bag with a 1M piping tip. Add the frosting to the bag.

Decorating Cupcakes
Once the cupcakes have cooled and you have your bag of green frosting, gather the remaining ingredients – chocolate kisses and fudge-striped cookies, and get ready to watch them magically transform.
Starting in the center of a cupcake, pipe a thick circle around the top.

Place a fudge striped cookie striped-side down on top of the green frosting.

Place a dab of frosting on the bottom of a chocolate kiss.

Place the chocolate kiss onto the middle of the cookie.
