Witch hat cupcakes don’t need to be complicated to be scrumptious! These delectable cupcakes are easy to make, yet they are just as tasty as cupcakes that take hours to perfect. You don’t have to have be a pastry chef to make these cupcakes.

Witch hat cupcakes can be made at home by following a few simple steps. We’ll show you how to decorate these cupcakes so that even the novice baker will look like a seasoned pro. You can use any cupcake recipe or mix for this project. Let’s take a look at how to make them.

How To Make Witch Hat Cupcakes

There are three components to Witch Hat Cupcakes – the cupcake base, the green frosting which represents a witch’s hair, and the cookie hat. Start by preparing the cupcake base.

    Cupcake Ingredients

    • 1 box white cake mix
    • 3 egg whites
    • ¼ cup vegetable oil
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 drop purple food coloring

    Cupcake Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350° Fahrenheit and fill a muffin tin with cupcake liners. Parchment paper liners are a great option because they peel away from cupcakes with ease.

Place cake mix, egg whites, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl and mix at medium speed for 2 minutes.

Add purple food coloring and mix until the batter is a solid color and there are no white streaks.

Fill the cupcake liners 2/3 of the way and bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cupcakes to cool in the muffin pan for 10 minutes. Remove them from pan and allow them to finish cooling on a wire wrack or on the counter.

    Green Frosting Ingredients

    • 2 cups unsalted butter at room temperature
    • 8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
    • 6 cups powdered sugar
    • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
    • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
    • 1 drop green food coloring
Powdered sugar, cream cheese, butter, and milk.

    Green Frosting Instructions

Now, if you might be thinking that most witches that you have seen have green faces, right? The Wicked Witch of the West is a prime example.

Feel free to switch the color scheme, if you’d like – make green cupcakes and purple frosting.

You can also use different kinds of boxed cake mix to this witch cupcakes recipe, such as strawberry cake mix. If you don’t want to make the frosting from scratch, you can use a can of ready-made white frosting and add food coloring to tint it.

It’s your cupcake and your choice!
